GE to provide technology to CHP plant in Mexico

21 July 2014 — The American company General Electric (GE) has announced that its Mexican partner, Smith Power Mexico, will provide gas engine technology to Enerkin to construct a CHP plant in that country.

Enerkin is the main independent power producer in the state of Yucatan. The plan will be located in the municipality of Merida.

In a statement, GE said the new station will use three Jenbacher J624 gas engine generators (pictured), which will allow the production of 13.125 MW of energy.

The electricity produced will be used to power other Enerkin plants. The surplus will be transmitted to the Federal Electricity Commission.
