23 July 2014 — Colombian electricity company Celsia is considering the option of purchasing generation assets abroad.

The firm is thinking of acquiring those assets – both conventional and non-conventional – in Mexico, Guatemala, Panama and Chile, BNamericas has reported. The company will announce its decision late this year.

Celsia’s net income reached $64.9m in the second quarter of this year, an increase of 47.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2013.

Celsia mainly works with hydropower sources, but Colombia’s rainfall shortage is causing the company to seek generation assets outside the nation.
