Bolivian President Evo Morales has announced important progress in energy matters in his country. Local newspaper La Razon said that the production of new thermoelectric and combined-cycle plants will make it possible for Bolivia to export up to 3000 MW by 2025.
Morales said that some neighboring countries suffer an energy shortage and they will need to purchase electricity from Bolivia.
The Santa Cruz, Cochabamba (pictured) and Tarija thermoelectric facilities will be enlarged by adding new turbines, making it possible to increase exports up to 1000 MW by 2020.
Argentina will be one of the main energy purchasers.
