Bolivia and Argentina to negotiate energy link

The governments of Bolivia and Argentina will be holding a meeting within the first fortnight of September to reaffirm the energy interconnection between their countries.

The meeting will be held in Bolivia’s capital city, La Paz. Hortensia Jiménez, Bolivia’s deputy minister of Electricity and Alternative Energy, said that the bilateral talks will establish the “technical and economic needs” to achieve electric interconnection with Argentina, onilne newspaper People’s Daily reported.

Jiménez claimed that Bolivia will have an energy exporting capacity over 1000 MW by 2020.

The current offer reaches 1480 MW, with demand at 1200 MW.
