Private equity firm Actis will invest $250m to develop an energy platform in Mexico that is expected to reach 500 MW of installed capacity.
The platform’s name is Zuma Energàƒa and it will be Actis’s fourth platform in Latin America, according to Infrastructure Investor. The other platforms have been opened in Brazil, Chile and Central America.
Zuma Energàƒa has completed its first acquisition with a deal to purchase Ingenio S.A.P.I., a 50 MW wind farm located in the state of Oaxaca. The project will be financed by Bancomex and is planned to supply power to 125,000 homes, as well as reduce carbon emissions by 200,000 tonnes.
