9 October 2002 – Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Ltd. plans to expand sales of its desulphurization facilities in the US through a marketing agreement with Tennessee-based URS Corporation.
The desulphurisation technology can remove 99.9 per cent of sulphur oxide from emissions.
URS will market the technology to coal-fuelled thermoelectric power stations in the US.
URS owns 55 per cent of the new company located in the state of Tennessee while Mitsubishi Heavy holds a 45 per cent stake. Mitsubishi Heavy has supplied more than 150 facilities around the world, and holds a more than 40 per cent share of the Japanese market and a 12 per cent share of the global market.
