Canada repowers with GT24
ABB Alstom Power has been awarded a contract to repower a conventional oil-fired power plant in New Brunswick, Canada, with a GT24 gas turbine. Independent power producer Bayside Power Inc. placed the order.
The repowering will increase the plant`s output from 100 MW to 265 MW and increase thermal efficiency to 56 per cent. The plant will supply power to New Brunswick and also to the US power market starting in the first quarter 2001. ABB Alstom will replace the oil fired boiler with a GT24 gas turbine-generator and heat recovery steam generator. The plant`s existing steam turbine will remain in place.
• ABB Alstom Power has received an order from Mexico`s Federal Electricity Commission to build a turnkey 250 MW CCGT power plant. The order is the first in a series of ten build-own-operate projects being tendered to meet forecasted electricity demand. ABB Alstom will supply a GT24 gas turbine and other equipment to a site close to Hermosillo in Sonora state.
