Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) is to build perhaps the world's greenest city, which will be powered largely by photovoltaic panels and concentrated solar power, by 2015 with its partner and adviser, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). The 6 km2 project, to be located near Abu Dhabi International Airport, is claimed to be the world's first zero-carbon, zero-waste and car-free city.
