Copperbelt Energy Corp has been shortlisted as a potential buyer for three Nigerian power lines in Abuja, Lagos and Benin city, says the Zambian firm’s corporate finance director Mutale Mukuka.

“We’re preparing the bids now,” he told Bloomberg.

Copperbelt Energy (CEC) distributes half of Zambia’s electricity and is building power plants there to supply the growing copper mining industry.

The company is no longer interested in power generation assets in Nigeria, for which it was also shortlisted, according to Mukuka.
