Westinghouse floats an order in Ghana
Westinghouse Electric Corp. received an order for a 144-MW floating power plant in Western Ghana from Ghana National Petroleum Corp. (GNPC).
The facility will use three Westinghouse 251B11 combustion turbines in a simple-cycle configuration. To avoid the expense of a water treatment facility, the combustion turbines will include Westinghouse`s dry low NOx emissions controls. Primary fuel will be natural gas from an offshore platform. A 10-year operations and maintenance agreement is under negotiation. Power from the project will be sold to the Volta River Authority to provide electricity for distribution throughout Ghana.
