Aggreko pledges $19m to mobile power

Aggreko plc, the international group specialising in the rental of electrical power, temperature control and oil-free compressed air equipment, is committing £12m ($19.2) to the establishment of an International Power Projects fleet of large containerised diesel-powered generators.

Aggreko has widened its sphere of business to over 20 countries, providing major temporary power facilities to international and national organisations engaged in major projects, and developing natural resources in countries where it does not presently exist.

To meet growing demand, and to provide a servicing and shipping base for the equipment, Aggreko is developing a 4-acre facility in the free port of Jebel Ali in the United Arab Emirates. The location will facilitate quick and economic response to customers in Africa and the Balkans. When fully operational this year, the facility will initially have a base-fleet of some 100 MW of mobile electric power and associated equipment.

“This is a big step forward in fast track generation.” said Mike Valente, General Manager of Aggreko International Power Projects. “We now have a huge, dedicated, power generation capability allowing us to mobilise immediately, wherever our customers require power.”

Over the past 15 years, Aggreko has completed a wide range of international projects spanning the utilities, mining, oil and gas, and construction industries.
