Venezuelan demand jumps 3.5% in 1996

Electricity demand in Venezuela rose 3.5 percent in 1996 according to the Venezuelan Electricity Industry Chamber. The chamber noted that demand rose from 54,594 GW to 56,535 GW in 1995. Residential demand grew 5.5 percent as industrial demand grew 5.8 percent, but the commercial and public sector experienced drops. Approximately 75 percent of the nation`s power is supplied by hydroelectric power plants.
