The Uruguayan government has once again started to buy electricity from Argentina, which has already exceeded 100 MW say official sources cited by El Pais.
According to the newspaper, the cost of buying electricity from Argentina is currently $430 per MWh.
However, government sources confirmed it is trying to limit the amount imported from neighbour, and is making decisions on a daily basis on how much to purchase.
Uruguay’s hydroelectric power sector has suffered recently because of a lack of rain but authorities have said recent rainfall has helped to ease some of the burden.
