MEXICO, Oct. 4, 2000 (Global News)—Unión Fenosa Desarrollo and Expansión Exterior will build in Mexico the combined-cycle thermoelectric plant Tuxpan III and IV, under the terms of independent power producers (IPPs). The investment will add to US$ 600 million.

The contract won by the Spanish firms was due to the fact that Iberdrola wasn’t qualified for flaws in its guarantees.

The power generated will be exclusively sold to the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) and start-up is scheduled for June 2003.
