Siemens garners Argentine order

The Siemens Power Generation Group has announced its third power plant order from Argentina within a year. The contract, valued at approximately (US)$280 million, is for the 660-MW Genelba combined-cycle power plant in Marcos Paz, a province of Buenos Aires.

A consortium of Black & Veatch International, SADE Ingeneria y Construcciones S.A. and Siemens/KWU will provide turnkey construction. Total plant construction value is (US)$490 million. Siemens will supply gas turbines, one steam turbine, and the electrical and instrument controls. The plant, scheduled for completion late in 1997, will reach 55-percent electricity in combined-cycle mode.
