Argentina’s recent weather conditions, including rheavy rains and a significant increase in temperatures, have caused power cuts in the nation and forced the government to import 580 MW from neighbouring Uruguay.

Argentina’s power purchases from Uruguay are set to keep growing, according to La Nación newspaper. Ramón Méndez, Argentina’s National Energy manager, said prices could reach up to $300/MWh.

Distributor Edenor expects that during the coming southern summer there will not be energy supply cut-offs if the temperatures keep within “reasonable levels”.
