Mexico to seek bids
Mexico`s Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), has said that it will seek bids in 1999 from independent power producers to build 2800 MW of capacity. Five power projects are due to go into operation between 2001 and 2004, representing a total investment of $2.1bn.
The five projects to be tendered include a 100 MW plant at Azufres, 900 MW projects at Tuxpan and Altamira, and two 450 MW plants, one at Rio Bravo and one at La Laguna. Additional projects to be tendered will be transmission lines and substations.
