Major stake in Chile’s Guacolda up for sale

Empresas Copec and Inversiones Ultraterra Limitada are reportedly intending to sell their stakes in the Chilean power generator Guacolda, says La Tercera.

The two firms each have a 25 per cent holding in Guacolda.

The other 50 per cent is owned by AES Gener, which is described as the largest thermal generator and second largest electricity generator in Chile.

Empresas Copec manager Eduardo Navarro told La Tercera that the terms and conditions for Guacolda’s sale were still under discussion.

Guacolda operates four 152 MW thermoelectric plants at its Huasco complex, totaling a gross power output of 608 MW, and 170 km of transmission lines linked to Chile’s central SIC grid.
