The Haitian Government has signed a $250m partnership agreement with the “International Electric Power Company”for the construction of a 30 MW waste to energy plant in the capital city of Port – au-Prince to power the city and its environs.

Karl Jean Louis Director of Centre for Facilitation of investments (CFI) explained, “we have an investor who wants to invest in this sector; it is the Phoenix project. They have signed a contract with the Government of Haiti and the project will start shortly, they will collect household waste, and convert them into energy and they will do so with a Haitian partner Boucard Pest Control.”
