El Salvador ‘consolidated’ as a destination for solar and wind projects

El Salvador has established itself as a destination for energy investment.

The Government has announced the start of a new bidding process for renewable energy generation, based on wind and solar power projects.

The bid is 150 MW and the term is 20 years from 2019. The process is open to national and international companies.

It is estimated that the process will mean an investment of $300m in the coming years. The resulting power projects are projected to meet the demand of about 250,000 households.
