Empresas Publicas de Medellín (EPM) in Colombia has announced it will invest over $4bn in building infrastructure between 2014 and 2017.
It confirmed that 82 per cent of its investment will be in the energy sector.
The power generation sector will receive $2.6bn, and includes the 2400 MW Ituango hydroelectric dam, located in the region of Antioquia, reports Efe.
In transmission and distribution, $686m will be allocated for expansion and modernization, including the completion of the New Hope project in the department of Cundinamarca and the electrification of 44,000 dwellings again as part of the Antioquia Illuminated programme.
