Colombia awards plant expansions
GE Power Systems has been awarded two contracts worth $200m for the expansion of two power plants in Colombia. The contracts were awarded by Las Empresas Publicas de Medellín and Isagen and will be executed by GE and Parsons Group International.
GE and Parsons will expand the Central Termoelectrica La Sierra plant from simple cycle to combined cycle under a $125m contract. GE will supply a 180 MW, three pressure reheat steam turbine, air-cooled generator and two heat recovery steam generators.
Isagen has awarded the two companies a $73m contract to convert its Termocentro gas fired plant into combined cycle operation.
