Chilean minister boosts ‘sleepy’ energy sector

Maximo Pacheco (pictured), Chile’s energy minister, has managed to boost the country’s “sleepy” energy sector over the four years of his tenure, according to an interview with Energy Agenda.

A poll found that the secret of its management was that the minister “listens to all actors” and engages in “dialogue with the opposition”.

Pacheco said his greatest achievement has been to “reverse the stagnation in the energy sector”, which was “the product of weakened institutions and lack of clear guidance from the state for this sector”.
