Chile is seeking a regional agreement to import electricity from Paraguay, Chile’s Minister of Energy, Maximo Pacheco, has said.
“These are issues that are not purely economic and commercial, here you have to just build a political agreement between countries to make sure we all benefit from this integration,” the official said.
Pacheco said: “We will continue to persevere in getting Chile to bring this clean and cheap energy produced in Paraguay. “
The Chilean minister said there is already a transmission line between Argentina Salta and Mejillones to import and export energy. However, he said “all the difficult things have to be done gradually and with perseverance.”
