Aneel, Brazil’s energy sector regulator, has given the green light for local energy cogeneration firm Cogeracao de Energia Eletrica Paraiso to become an independent energy producer (IPP).

According to SeeNews Latin America, the firm will install and operate the Brotas thermoelectric power plant.

The 70 MW plant will be built in the Brotas municipality of southeastern Sao Paulo state.

In 2011 the Brazilian authorities included the projects in the Government’s Incentive Regime for Infrastructure Development REIDI, which grants tax incentives to companies investing in important infrastructure projects.
