Brazil is set to add another 3.89 GW of installed capacity to its power network this year, according to reports.
Official sources say that 40 per cent of the 6.41 GW in new projects scheduled for this year is already operational.
All reserve power plants in the country remained in operation despite the current oversupply of 8.21 GW. Brazil’s ower plants have been active almost permanently since October 2012, reports said.
Earlier this year, authorities warned that Brazil faced a risk of electricity rationing amid the worst drought in 85 years.
