Brazilian authorities have decided to unplug seven power plants with an installed capacity of 2000 MW, beginning in March.

The disconnections are expected to lead to a reduction of more than $181 million in the cost of power generation per month.

As a result, the tariff will switch from a red flag to yellow, signaling to end users that their energy bills will fall.

In 2015, a fee system (green, yellow and red) was implemented to indicate whether the cost of energy is more or less dependent on the conditions of electricity generation.
