Barclays, through private equity firm Barclays Natural Resource Investments, has signed an agreement with Brazilian power generator Companhia Positiva de Energia, established last year by executives of the electric sector, Flavio Godinho and Eduardo Karrer.

There will be a capital injection in exchange for a stake in Positiva, which has several projects in its portfolio. The most advanced is the second stage of the Linhares  thermal power plant with 300 MW, according to news reports.

The parties are negotiating a long-term contract for the supply of natural gas.
