Bolivia’s Tarija department, well-known for its gas deposits, is to receive key investment to take advantage of its energy potential.

Through the Tarija 2015-2025 Energy Agenda about $7.5bn will be received for energy projects, BN Americas reported.

At least $3.5bn will be used for gas exploration and production, said minister of Hydrocarbon and Energy, Luis Alberto Sánchez. In addition, $2.5bn will be invested in energy projects.

Among these projects is a plant to separate liquids in the Gran Chaco.

By 2025 Tarija is set to produce 685 MW of power, for a projected regional demand of 101 MW.
