Following its agreement to sell electricity to Argentina, the government of Bolivia is looking to other purchasers interested in its energy surplus. Local newspaper La Razón reported that the new goal is to export energy to Brazil, Peru and other neighboring countries.
The claim was made by Roberto Peredo, national manager for Strategic Development and Exports at ENDE (National Electricity Company). Bolivia wants to become “South America’s energy heart”, Peredo said.
Bolivia will export 100 MW in 2015. That amount is planned to increase to 1000 MW by 2020 and 3000 MW by 2030.
