Argentina experienced the highest energy consumption ever in July with an annual rise of 4.8 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to official figures.

During the first six of the month of 2011, the use of energy rose by 5.5 per cent in relation to the same period in 2010.

According to the report, weather was a key trigger to the higher energy consumption.

The average temperature in July was 11.2 degrees Celsius, while in 2010 the average temperature was 10.7 degrees Celsius.

According to official data, thermal energy covered 58.6 per cent of July’s demand.
