Argentina sees power cuts as demand soars

Energy demand has exceeded 24,000 MW in Argentina and so far there are nearly 200,000 business users without power, according to utilities Edenor and Edesur.

Edesur recorded 127,185 users without electricity, while the number of Edenor users without supply reached 71,124.

Edenor reported that “due to problems beyond our competence” it needed to “carry out preventive deficit cuts in electricity generation.”

The company said it had distributed the cuts over several towns in its concession area, but that “the re-establishment of service barely exceeds that event”.

The company apologized for the interruptions in power, which it said do not correspond to breakdowns at its facilities. à‚
