Aguaytia project Clears finance hurdle
The power project set to be the first merchant power plant in Peru has cleared the hurdle of financing, moving toward its completion in the first quarter of 1998. The (US)$250 million Aguaytia Project was awarded to Dallas, Texas, US-based Maple Gas Corp. in 1993. Aguaytia is an integrated gas and power project including gas wells, gas facilities and pipelines. Gas from the field will be supplied to the new 155 MW gas-fired thermoelectric merchant power plant, Aguaytia Energy del Peru S.R. Ltd., which will sell all its energy to the Peruvian spot market.
