Aela Energía, a joint venture formed by British Actis and Irish Mainstream, has issued an appeal to Chile’s appeals court against its exclusion from an energy projects tender.

Chilean newspaper El Mercurio said that Aela offered a price of $99.25/MWh, which was one of the best offers in the bid. However, it was excluded from the process due to formal requirements: a mistake in the company’s name.

The firm applied to the tender under the name Aela Negrete Ltd. But in other documents it appears as Aela Energía. This was cited as the reason for the exclusion.
