Zinc-air battery study approved in Europe
The Commission of the European Communities has approved a study of its zinc-air battery infrastructure, designed to support the widespread application of electric vehicles using the Electric Fuel Corp. energy system. The study is part of the Thermie program for the promotion of European energy technology, a vital element of the European Community`s strategy to meet its energy needs. Thermie places emphasis on technologies which could help improve the environment, especially those which reduce CO2 emissions.
Total budget for the study is (US)$1.9 million, to be shared by three project partners: Electric Fuel Corp. of the United States, Unternehmensgruppe T less than V Bayern of Germany and Edison Termoelettrica of Italy.
