Ukraine still plans to announce the privatization of electricity generation facilities by the end of 2011, despite the postponement of earlier schedules, said First Vice Premier Andriy Kliuyev.

But Kliuyev said “the matter should not be rushed”, taking into account the scale of the planned privatization and its strategic importance for the state.

Worsening international financial markets are one factor in postponing the sale of state-owned assets in energy companies, he added.

“We should not be in a hurry, and we do not want to sell the assets too cheaply,” he said.
