UES misses winter reserves target

Russian utility Unified Energy Systems (UES) has stated that its fuel reserves for the winter season are below target, but that measures are being taken to ensure that it can provide an uninterrupted electricity supply over the winter. Coal reserves are down by 19 per cent and fuel oil by 17 per cent.

The company has also joined Gazprom in agreeing to limit price rises in an effort to fight inflation. They have agreed to halt prices and revise them quarterly. Prices in Russia rose by 35.7 per cent in the first week of September.
