South Coast Power contract

Independent power producer South Coast Power has awarded the turnkey contract for the construction of a 400 MW power plant in the UK to ABB. The total value of the contract is $215m, and commercial operation of the plant is scheduled for late 2000.

South Coast Power is a joint venture between UK utility Scottish Power plc and CSW International Inc. The company is developing the combined cycle power plant at Shoreham on the south coast of England.

ABB will equip the plant with its sequential combustion GT26 gas turbine technology and will also supply the steam turbine, electrical generator and the control system. In addition, ABB will be responsible for the engineering, procurement and construction of the plant and will maintain it for six years.
