POWER-GEN Europe breaks all records

18 June 2002 – When the tenth POWER-GEN Europe closed last week it broke all records for the event with visitor numbers exceeding those for any previous event.

The recorded number of visitors and delegates had easily passed the 9000 mark ? the highest number of power industry professionals for a POWER-GEN Europe event ever. Visitors to the floor were able to meet with a record 450 exhibitors, underlining POWER-GEN Europe’s status as the leading power generation event outside of the USA.

President and CEO of event organizers PennWell Corporation Mr Robert F. Biolchini said, “We are delighted to have welcomed so many to the Fiera Milano for POWER-GEN Europe 2002. We see the undoubted success of the event as a sign of underlying optimism within the power sector in Europe.”

Exhibitors have been speaking positively about the show. A spokesman for Diamond Sponsor Enel said, “We are pleased to have been associated with such a successful event and happy that Milan has proven to be such a good choice for POWER-GEN Europe.” He added that there was a positive atmosphere in the exhibit hall and that this was good news for the future of the industry in Europe.

These views were echoed by Siemens where Piero Manzoni, managing director of the company’s Power Business Segment in Italy, said, “There is a definite feel that the industry is on the move again with customers showing a real interest in new technology and exhibitors’ capabilities. He also commented on the high quality of the conference programme where he felt the right messages were being sent. He added that POWER-GEN Europe had achieved a real sense of globalization.

POWER-GEN Europe moves to Germany for 2003. The event will be held in Dusseldorf between 6-8 May.
