Parsons, Westinghouse provide safety systems

The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, US, has signed a multimillion dollar contract with Parsons Power group and subcontractor Westinghouse Electric Corp. for Westinghouse to supply 10 safety parameter display systems to Soviet-designed nuclear reactors. Westinghouse will design, manufacture and install the systems in RBMK reactors in Russia and Ukraine, including one at Chernobyl`s operating Unit 3 reactor.

The contract is part of the Soviet-designed Reactor Safety Program, a comprehensive effort by the international community to increase the safety at 59 Soviet-designed commercial nuclear reactors at 17 sites in seven Eastern and Central European countries.
