Nov. 28, 2000, M2 Communications — Norway is expected to approve the construction of a new gas-fired power plant on Wednesday 29 November.

Norwegian media reported that approval would be given for the new plant in central Norway and related carbon dioxide emission licences.

The decision by Norway will put it further away from reaching its international goals to curb greenhouse gases, said Lars Haltbrekken, a member of a lobby organisation against gas-fired power.
