Swiss-headquartered Foster Wheeler (Nasdaq:FWLT) today announced that it has finalised a deal to acquire Siemens Environmental Systems and Services, a business that supplies clean air technologies for power plants.

The purchase includes assets of the former Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control Company in Pennsylvania and the Advanced Burner Technology Company in New Jersey.

Foster Wheeler is now integrating these assets into its global power group. Gary Nedelka, chief executive of the group, said of the acquisition: “With environmental legislation becoming increasingly stringent around the world, we wanted to be in a better position to address these environmental challenges for our clients.”
