10 May, 2002 – Italy’s dominant power producer Enel will oppose the leasing solution for its electricity distribution network in Milan, according to Italian daily, Il Sole 24 Ore.
Earlier this year, a leasing alternative was put forward when Enel rejected the sale of the network to AEM Spa. Enel felt that the sum of €423.5m, decided at arbitration, was too low.
In accordance with the Bersani law, introduced to liberalise the electricity sector, Enel is required to sell the distribution network to AEM. However Enel argues that leasing the network is not a solution included within this law.
