ABB books 500 MW Pelican Point

UK-based power project developer National Power has awarded the turnkey contract to build a 500 MW power plant in Australia to engineering group ABB. The combined cycle plant will be built at Pelican Point near the city of Adelaide, South Australia.

The plant will be Australia`s largest. The plant will be built in stages, with 160 MW scheduled to be on line by November 2000. Full commercial operation is slated for April 2001.

The contract order is valued at $200m. ABB will supply two GT13E2 gas turbines equipped with low emission burner technology to help meet strict environmental requirements.
