Wind power use rising worldwide

The wind power generating capacity worldwide rose 22 percent in the last year to 3,710 MW. Half the extra capacity, according to the Worldwatch Institute`s Vital Signs report, was in Germany and aided by government incentives. European manufacturers captured 80 percent of the market for wind turbines in 1994. India, which opened its market to independent producers, is now the world`s second-largest wind power consumer.
