Weir Pumps grabs 2 equipment orders

Weir Pumps of Scotland has announced two orders, with a combined value of (US)$4 million, to supply equipment for Tapada do Outeiro combined-cycle power station in Portugal and Lal Pir fossil-fueled plant in Pakistan. Weir will manufacture boiler-feed pumps and condensate-extraction pumps for the projects under contracts awarded by Koch/Siemens of Germany and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries of Japan, respectively.

Operator of the 3 x 300-MW Portuguese station, beside the River Duoro, will be PowerGen, while Lal Pir, a 2 x 350-MW private power plant sited 720 km north of Karachi, will be run by AES Pakistan.

The Lal Pir units will be delivered in the summer of 1996, and the Tapada equipment will be phased over the next two years.
