BP-Amoco, Statoil and India`s ONGC Videsh have signed a $1.5bn gas exploration and development deal with Vietnam which will bring natural gas to Vietnamese power plants. The three partners have agreed with Vietnam`s Petrovietnam to tap the natural gas fields off Nam Con Son Basin and pipe it to shore through a 400 km pipeline. It will deliver 2.7bn m3/year of gas to Vietnamese power stations to generate 60 per cent of the country`s electricity.
