Tri Energy awards contracts
Tri Energy Company Ltd. has awarded contracts covering operation and maintenance (O&M) and the supply of equipment for its 700 MW power plant in Thailand to GE Power Systems. The two contracts are worth over $275m.
GE will supply a Stag 209FA combined cycle system consisting of two MS9001FA gas turbine generators and one large steam turbine generator. Under the second contract, GE will provide O&M services to the plant for 20 years.
The plant, in Ratchaburi Province, will be constructed by Black & Veatch. It is scheduled for operation in mid-2000. Power from the plant will be sold to the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
Training and technical services are also included in the contracts. The O&M agreement includes a long term service agreement for the equipment, a management team and a labour force of around 50 people. Tri Energy is owned by Texaco Global Gas and Power, Banpu Public Company Ltd. and Edison Mission Energy.
