Nov. 18, 2000 (ChinaOnline)—After finishing construction on the Shanghai Waigaoqian Thermal Plant, Siemens Corp. will hand the plant over to the Second Power Co. of Shangahi Waigaoqian, which would begin operating the plant by December 2004, according to a Nov. 8 announcement from Siemens.

The total generation capacity of the Shanghai Waigaoqian Thermal Plant is 1.8 million kilowatts, which brings the combined generation capacity of Siemens-invested power plants to 14.32 million kilowatts, the Nov. 9 Zhongguo Jingji Shibao ( China Economic Times ) reported.

There are currently 11 large Siemens-funded thermal plants under construction, with the capacity of single generating units ranging from 300 megawatts to 900 megawatts.
