Gazprom, the Russian utility and China Guodian Corp are amongst the interested parties in purchasing power plants owned by EDF and GE in the UK.

The Russian gas monopoly Gazprom and one of China’s largest state-owned utilities were mentioned in the Sunday Times as planning bids, although sources weren’t named.

Gazprom is set to launch a bid for EDF Energy’s Sutton Bridge power plant in Lincolnshire, England, while China Guodian Corp. has hired Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS) to bid for General Electric Co.’s (GE) Baglan Bay power plant in South Wales.
